Pumpkin Patch!

For weeks I've wanted to go to a pumpkin patch to take pictures of our little man! One week prior to Halloween, and we still did not have pumpkins...or pictures. I'm usually that person on the block that has pumpkins on the porch in SEPTEMBER, but this year I was a little behind on my seasonal flair.

So my birthday wish - pictures at the Pumpkin Patch!

A Birthday Cameo

I don't blog as often as I probably should, but I thought a recent event made it appropo. Well, it finally happened last week. I could no longer prolong the inevitable. I turned 30. The "college years" are gone. But I've come to the conclusion that age really is completely relative though. It all depends on your audience, and most importantly, how you see the glass.

I can say that we have lived our 20s to the fullest. We've done more things in our 20s than most folks do in a lifetime. From traveling around Europe to ski trips in Beaver Creek staying at the Ritz (thank you Marriott points) to laying on the beaches of Mexico and the Caribbean (thank you again Marriott points), we have definitely lived it up in ways that are too numerous to count.

Katherine's 30th birthday is swiftly approaching, and I should mention that she continues to get carded at Whole Foods, mainly because that's the only place where we're buying alcohol these days. For some reason, that still frustrates her! I'm not sure why? I think it's all an act and deep down it really is satisfying.

She did make me her "irresistible chocolate cake" recipe again for my Birthday. The first time she made the cake was one weekend when I went down to visit her in Austin. We managed to polish off the whole pan that weekend before I went back to Georgetown. Since the first tasting, that cake has marked many a milestone in our relationship, including graduation from medical school. She will sometimes put nuts in the icing or fresh raspberries on top, but one thing's for sure, it never gets old. I think it is my favorite cake next to our wedding cakes, which in my professional cake-eating opinion were the best cakes I have ever eaten, respectively.

We didn't eat the whole cake in one weekend this time around, but we did still eat it over the course of 72 hours as my Birthday was on a Sunday. One casual observation I have made since turning 30 is that my waistline is not as forgiving as it was that weekend in Austin.

Shopping with an Eating Machine

Unfortunately Campbell is as slow of an eater as his mom. He is a grazer, muncher, the ultimate snacker. Here's how our Sunday afternoon went.

2:30: Breastfeed, Campbell falls asleep
2:45: Mom pumps
3:15: Just kidding, Campbell awake, breastfeed again
3:25: Mom makes executive decision to load up and head out. Off to Plant Gallery for fall plants for the planter boxes.
3:40: Enjoying the gorgeous weather walking around Plant Gallery showing all the different flowers to Campbell. Pick out new plants and go to pay.
4:15: Campbell squawking again. Dad pays, mom and C man book it to the car. Breastfeed in the car. Dad loads up flowers. Campbell falls asleep. Onward to Old Navy - little man has outgrown his NB size pants.
4:35: Caffeine break for mom and dad. Campbell starts squawking again. Leave Starbucks, drive across parking lot to Old Navy.
4:45: Campbell squawking louder. Dad runs into Old Navy, Campbell eats again in car.
4:55: Drive back to Starbucks - they got our order wrong - Campbell still breastfeeding.
5:00: New yummy drinks - off to Home Depot - across the parking lot again - Campbell still breastfeeding.
5:10: Dad gets needed items at Home Depot. Campbell finishes eating, then blows out diaper.

All I can say, thank goodness for the dark tinted windows on the Yukon! After the Plant Gallery, Campbell and I never made it out of the car. Great team effort. Thanks Brad for doing all our shopping!
